Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s
visit to Kyrgyzstan during the SCO Summit became a memorable occasion for the
Indian diaspora, with Dr. Kapil Tiwary playing a notable role in welcoming the
Indian Prime Minister and showcasing the warmth of the Indian community in
Kyrgyzstan.
Representing the Indian diaspora in Kyrgyzstan, Dr. Kapil
Tiwary was among those who came forward to welcome Prime Minister Modi on the
first day of his visit. The welcome reflected the strong emotional and cultural
connection shared by the Indian community with the Prime Minister.
One of the memorable moments of the welcome was the
enthusiastic display of the popular sentiment “Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai,” which
brought a smile to Prime Minister Modi’s face and created a vibrant atmosphere
among members of the Indian diaspora.
The visit also witnessed a colourful presentation of Indian
culture by the people of Kyrgyzstan. Traditional Indian dances, yoga
demonstrations and cultural performances highlighted the growing
people-to-people relationship between India and Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz citizens
also extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Modi in Hindi, showcasing their
affection and respect for Indian culture.
On the second day, Dr. Kapil Tiwary again had the
opportunity to greet Prime Minister Modi during the dedication of the Mahatma
Gandhi statue in Bishkek. During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi spoke
with Dr. Tiwary and enquired about his home state, his work and how things were
progressing.
Dr. Kapil Tiwary is the Director of WCIEC Kyrgyzstan and has
been working for more than 15 years to help Indian students pursue medical
education in Kyrgyzstan. Through his work in the education sector, thousands of
Indian students have received opportunities to study MBBS and build their
careers as doctors. Many of these students have since returned to India and are
contributing to the country's healthcare sector.
Beyond medical education, Dr. Tiwary is also associated with
upcoming projects in sectors such as aviation and FMCG, reflecting a broader
vision for strengthening economic and professional connections between India
and Kyrgyzstan.
Strengthening India–Kyrgyzstan Relations
Dr. Tiwary expressed happiness over the growing cooperation
between India and Kyrgyzstan and said that the relationship between the two
countries has significant potential for further development.
The broader bilateral engagement during the visit also
focused on strengthening cooperation in areas including banking, energy,
healthcare, defence, agriculture and investment. Discussions with Kyrgyz
President Sadyr Zhaparov further reflected the importance both nations place on
expanding strategic and economic cooperation.
For Dr. Kapil Tiwary, the Prime Minister’s visit was more
than a diplomatic event. It was an opportunity for the Indian diaspora in
Kyrgyzstan to demonstrate its connection with India and contribute to
strengthening people-to-people relations between the two nations.
