Mahant Swami Maharaj: Spiritual Leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha

 




His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, born on September 13, 1933, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India, serves as the sixth and current spiritual guru of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.

Early Life and Education

Born to Dahiben and Manibhai Narayanbhai Patel, he was named Keshav by Brahmaswarup Shastriji Maharaj, the founder of BAPS, shortly after his birth. He completed his 12th grade at Christ Church Boys' Senior Secondary School in Jabalpur and earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the College of Agriculture in Anand, Gujarat

Spiritual Journey

In 1957, he was initiated into the monastic order by Yogiji Maharaj, adopting the name Vinu Bhagat. Later, he received the name Swami Keshavjivandas and was appointed as the head ('mahant') of the Dadar Mandir in Mumbai. 

Leadership in BAPS

Following the passing of Pramukh Swami Maharaj in 2016, Mahant Swami Maharaj assumed leadership of BAPS. Under his guidance, the organization has inaugurated over 350 new temples globally, promoting cultural and spiritual enrichment.
